SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — Two people are now in custody after a late Monday shooting in Salem left 2 people dead and a young woman wounded.

Keonte Caldwell and Curtis Welch were tracked down in Roseburg and taken into custody Tuesday, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators said Caldwell and Welch knew the victims, Bradley Kelly, Michael Buntjer and Coral Olfert. Kelly, 35, died at the scene on Joshua Avenue NE off Silverton Road. Buntjer, 35, died at a Salem hospital.

Olfert, 26, was wounded and is expected to recover.

Her father told KOIN 6 News she’s lucky to be alive.

Roger Olfert said his daughter was wounded in a shooting that left 2 men dead in Salem, May 7, 2019 (KOIN)

She can feel the bullet in the skin,” Olfert said. “But they don’t think it’s urgent enough to do surgery.”

He said 2 of his daughter’s guy friends were over at the house when a man she previously dated came by and threatened them with a knife.

The two men were able to chase him off — but didn’t realize he would come back with a gun.

Olfert called the shooting “senseless.”

Neighbors told KOIN 6 News there was a young child in the house at the time of the shooting, but the child was not hurt.

Caldwell, 23, and the 26-year-old Welch will be charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, the sheriff’s office said.
