Officers first responded to a reported armed robbery of a convenience store near SE Holgate and SE 104th Street, according to PPB. Ten minutes later, suspects matching the same description were reported at SE Foster and 110th attempting to rob another convenience store.
The suspects were then located in a vehicle nearby and an officer attempted to pull it over, however, the car sped off. The pursuit lead officers to Northeast Portland where the suspects got out of the vehicle and ran into the Wilkes neighborhood.
A perimeter was setup between NE Halsey Street to San Rafael Street as well as NE 157th to 162nd, according to PPB. An hour into establishing the perimeter, one patrolling officer said he recognized the passengers in another car as one of the suspects.
PPB stopped the car–a rideshare vehicle–and arrested the four occupants without incident.
“The rideshare driver was cooperative with the investigation,” said PPB. “A handgun was recovered from under a seat of the rideshare vehicle. The gun was an airsoft-style gun.”
