TUALATIN, Ore. (KOIN) — A cyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a WES Commuter Rail train Tuesday evening, police said.
Timothy Nester, 48, was attempting to cross the tracks at SW Boones Ferry Road and SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road around 5:25 p.m. when he rode directly into the path of an approaching train, Tualatin Police Dept. said.
Authorities believe safety features on the train, which include flashing lights and horns, were activated and working properly at the time of the collision.
Bystanders were reportedly helping the man when police arrived.
He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. His condition is unknown.
The collision is under investigation.
