PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two more cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Clark County.

The county’s first case was confirmed on March 6. The two new cases bring the county’s total number of cases to three.

Officials say the two new patients are both in their 80s. They are a married couple who live in separate long-term care facilities but had close contact.

As of March 12, there were 10 people with tests pending in the county. Three were under supervision.

Declaration of civil emergency

Vancouver City Manager Eric Holmes issued a declaration of civil emergency Friday evening. The declaration will give the city more flexibility in supporting local and state public health authorities responding to the coronavirus pandemic. It also provides access to federal, state and local emergency resources and funds. Similar emergency declarations have been issued at the county and state levels. All events permitted by the City of Vancouver are canceled.

Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries

All Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries will be closed March 14 through at least March 29. Libraries will extend loan periods for those who have already checked out materials. Holds will be adjusted. More information here.

Beginning March 14, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is restricting visitor access until COVID-19 is no longer considered a public health threat.

Visitors will not be allowed within the medical center until further notice, with a few specific exemptions.

Exceptions to the policy include one support person to help a patient with mobility challenges or discharge instructions, one designated support person for Emergency Department patients, two parents of a minor patient, and two support persons for end-of-life patients.
