PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd have brought untold numbers of people to streets, all of whom are clearly not maintaining social distance.

The coronavirus pandemic continues, and even though every state has loosened some of the restrictions, health officials are worried the protests will lead to spikes in the disease.

Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury, Public Health Director Rachael Banks and Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Vines addressed these concerns in a late Monday afternoon Zoom press conference.

Protests have roiled Portland, Salem and Eugene for each of the last 3 nights and protesters are already on the streets of Portland for a 4th night.
