GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) — Search crews found the body of a missing Gresham woman in the Columbia River Gorge on Thursday, sheriff’s deputies confirmed.

Susan Behrens, 30, was found dead in the Eagle Creek Recreational Area after 2 days of search efforts, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said. Air crews with Hood River County Sheriff’s Office spotted her body in an area near a remote waterfall.

Her car was found at the trailhead on Tuesday night.

Behrens family said they hadn’t seen or heard from her since April 4. She was reportedly an experienced hiker and had researched trails in the area.

They released the following statement on Thursday:

“We know that Susan loved the outdoors and moved to Oregon to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Susan was doing what she loved, and as a family we are proud of all that she accomplished in her life. We would like to take an opportunity to thank all of the search and rescue personnel from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the countless volunteers who have worked diligently over the last two days to find Susan.” – the Behrens family
