DEPOE BAY, Ore. (KOIN) — Depoe Bay resident Katy Roe’s family held a vigil of hope Wednesday night, just days after she vanished while walking home.

The air was somber at Depoe City Hall, where locals came together to share hugs and tears as the search for Roe continues.

Family and friends are keeping their faith until she comes home.

“I’ve been looking everywhere,” Roe’s friend Terry Rafferdy said. “I feel like I’m looking for a needle in the wrong haystack… I just miss her so much.”

The 22-year-old was last seen leaving Wing Wa restaurant around 2 a.m. Sunday. She was there having a drink with her grandmother, Patricia Summerton.

She said she would walk home when her grandmother left.

“She just vanished without a trace… I was terrified because this is completely out of character,” Roe’s aunt Jen Vodjansky said. “We’ve got to find her.”

Roe’s walk home from Wing Wa was about a mile. She texted her grandmother twice: once to say she was on her way, the next to say the moon was beautiful.

But she never returned home.

“It’s the worst thing that’s ever happened,” Roe’s great aunt Julie Kosta said. “I mean, we’ve had loss in our family but the not knowing is devastating.”

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Depoe Bay Fire & Rescue and community members have been searching the shoreline and woods near US-101 for any sign of Roe.

Investigators say, at this point, they’re looking into every possible scenario.

They will continue the search on Thursday.Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriffs Tip Line: 541.265.0669.
