GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A Gresham woman with Alzheimer’s who went missing for over two weeks was found dead Thursday evening, officials confirmed to KOIN 6 News.

Diane Holcom, 74, went missing on March 24. Police were called after someone found her body near NE 205th Avenue and NE Thompson Street in Fairview, Gresham Police Dept. said.

Holcom’s husband thought she went to another part of the house before he realized she had walked out the front door. He said she often went on walks, but usually returned quickly.

“She’s not a person who is outgoing or anything,” Ron Holcum previously told KOIN 6 News. “I just can’t visualize her getting in, asking for ride, hitchhiking. She was an independent person.”

He said her health went downhill just a few days before she left home.

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner determined Holcom died of hypothermia and exposure, and ruled her death an accident.
