PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon driver’s license is getting a makeover for the first time since 2003.
The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles is rolling out a new design for driver’s licenses and ID cards this winter.
It will feature a more durable plastic, laser-etched information, holographic Oregon symbols and colors printed in tiny patterns that are hard to see without magnification.
The new colorful design makes it harder to alter and duplicate the card.
People under 21 will also have a vertical layout to make them easier to identify.
The new design will be tested at a few locations in Salem in mid-December and at all other Oregon DMVs offices in early 2019.
Oregonians don’t need to rush to replace their current cards with the new design. Those are still valid until your license expires.
