As revelers flock to Las Vegas to celebrate New Year’s Eve, visitors should know that the Strip is not the only place to ring in the New Year.
There’s also a big party on Fremont Street.
A lot of people like the fireworks on the Strip, but the Plaza Hotel and Casino, located downtown also puts on a fireworks show for a massive crowd.
Last year, roughly 35,000 people celebrated on Fremont Street to celebrate the New Year. This year, 40,000 party-goers are expected.
Every night the Fremont Street Experience has three stages that have bands that play live music, but organizers are stepping it up on Dec. 31.
“For New Year’s Eve, we’re bringing in a new stage,” said Patrick Hughes, the president, and CEO of the Fremont Street Experience. “It’s going to be an EDM stage; state of the art at the intersection of Fremont and Casino Center, within the footprint. And that’s going to be one night only and trust me it’s going to be an incredible experience.”
Tickets for “America’s Party downtown” are $50 if you buy them online or at the gates. But those wanting to fly into the party on the Slotzilla Zipline, it’ll be $100.
No matter how you get to the party on Fremont, guest are encouraged to take the atmosphere in and enjoy the canopy filled with 12.5 million LED lights, because it’ll be an end of an era of sorts.
“This will be the last time you’ll be able to experience New Year’s Eve under this screen because we’re about to renovate it,” Hughes said.
The LED light show will continue nightly on Fremont Street even once the $32 million renovations start in February. It’ll take about 6-months to complete, and the unveiling of the new state-of-the-art canopy will take place on the next New Year’s Eve,
