VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A man shot and killed his wife and mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself Tuesday afternoon, authorities confirmed to KOIN 6 News.

The man was identified as Robert Robert Diaz Gutierrez, 42. His wife, Elizabeth Orozco, 40 and her mother, Adela Ruiz-Gonzales, 66 were identified as the other victims.

Police were called to the 2600 block of NE 98th Street around 3:45 p.m. on reports of a shooting inside a home, Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.

“This is just absolutely heartbreaking,” neighbor Georgia Maudsley said. “Good family, good people.”

Gutierrez, Orozco, and Ruiz-Gonzales were dead when police arrived, officials said.

Three of the couple’s four children were inside the home during the shootings. They range in age from 11 to 19 years old. Police said they believe it may have been one of those children who called 911.

Neighbors who have known the family for years said they were shocked to find out the gunshots came from inside their home.

“Nice family, kids went to school and the oldest girl just finished her first year of college,” Maudsley claimed. “The next oldest boy was going to go to college this fall.”

Authorities said there was no threat to the public.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
