LINCOLN CITY, Ore. (KOIN) – A man driving a stolen vehicle sped across the grass on hole number 10 of the Chinook Winds Golf Resort, according to officers.

Alan Dean Coulter is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, ID theft, fleeing police, interfering with police, giving false information, criminal driving while suspended, criminal mischief, reckless driving, and recklessly endangering another person.

The investigation started Feb. 28 when Lincoln City Police were asked to check on an illegally parked vehicle, according to court documents. When police arrived, they learned the vehicle was reported as stolen. At that point, police attempted to do a felony traffic stop. Coulter, who was inside the vehicle, reportedly climbed from the back seat to the driver seat and started the vehicle.

Coulter then drove off and rammed into a police car, according to court documents.

He started driving towards Chinook Winds Golf Resort. Once there, he headed down a golf cart path near the pro shop and then sped across the grass on hole 10, causing more than $1,000 in damage, according to court documents.

Coulter was then taken into custody after a K-9 unit was able to track his location.
