PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is in custody after a shooting took place in Portland’s Goose Hollow neighborhood on Thursday morning.
The shooting reportedly took place in broad daylight — multiple officers responded to the shooting around 11 a.m. near the corner of Southwest 14th Avenue and Jefferson Street. When officers arrived, they found a man seriously injured by an apparent gunshot wound.
The Portland Police Bureau says officers attempted to help the man by performing trauma care before paramedics made it to the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital, but police say he is expected to survive.
The shooting suspect, identified as 29-year-old Gabriel H. Harrison, stayed on the scene and was cooperative with the investigation, according to PPB. Harrison was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and now faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing.
Police say they confiscated a 10mm semiautomatic handgun as evidence.
Residents in the area told KOIN 6 News the shooting victim was their neighbor, but circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.
