PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – Two brothers have been charged with robbery after police say they each played a role in a recent gun theft.

The robbery was reported on June 18. Police said the gun’s original owner had planned to meet with another person at a fast food restaurant in the 1400 block of North Lombard.

The man who agreed to buy the Smith & Wesson 645  “unexpectedly” showed up with a man named Veldon Green Jr., police said. When the gun’s owner showed the two men the firearm, Veldon Green waived across the parking lot and another man showed up.

That person has been identified as Robby Green.

When there was a disagreement over the sale price, Veldon Green lifted his shirt and removed a 1911-type pistol, according to court documents. Veldon then handed the gun to his brother who put the firearm in the front of his waistband, according to court documents.

“Robby Green then casually closed (the owner’s) gun case with the gun inside and started walking back to his car,” Senior Deputy District Attorney Glen Banfield wrote.

Portland police arrested Veldon Green and was identified as being at the robbery but not the person who took the gun, court documents state. In August, police executed a search warrant at Veldon Green’s home in North Portland and found two firearms.

Robby Green is charged with robbery in the second-degree, theft in the first-degree, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of firearm.

Veldon Green was indicted by a grand jury on charges of second-degree robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, first-degree theft, aggravated theft, false information on a transfer of firearm, and furnishing a weapon in the furtherance of a felony.
