PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A child and an adult were taken to a hospital after a light pole fell on them at Irving Park Thursday afternoon, Portland Fire & Rescue said.
Firefighters responded to the emergency call at the playground on NE Fremont Street and 7th Avenue.
Portland police told KOIN 6 News the boy and his caretaker were sitting in a hammock they had tied to the concrete light pole and a tree.
The light pole fell and landed on them, injuring them both, fire officials said. The two went to a hospital for treatment and the boy is seriously injured, police said.
The Portland Police Bureau said “there is no indication a crime was committed.”
