PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A criminal investigation is underway after fire damaged a Bank of America branch in Southeast Portland early Saturday.
Smoke billowed from the Bank of America on SE 37tha and Hawthorne shortly after 3 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue officials said. When firefighters arrived they saw smoke in the building’s front door.
Crews fought the blaze from inside the building and found several hot spots. The basement was not affected, officials said.
The fire was out by 4:30 a.m.
Late Saturday afternoon, PFR said the fire was “an ongoing criminal investigation” and Portland police were now on the case.
