PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Two people were found dead in Portland’s Woodlawn neighborhood after a shooting was reported in the area Wednesday night, authorities said.

Portland police arrived at Northeast Lombard Street and Northeast 22nd Avenue shortly before 9:15 p.m., where they found a woman dead. Police later discovered a man deceased they say is connected to the homicide investigation.

The suspect or suspects had already left the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and have yet to release any information on the victim or suspect. No arrests have been made.

Pastor J.W. Matt Hennesse, a local pastor who has been vocal about gun violence shared today that this kind of violence has been having a huge impact on the Black community.

“I am just as dismayed today as I have been in the last year, on a regular basis now a person being killed,” said Hennessee. “When you look at the categories of people being killed by this gun violence, in the Black community, it’s young Black men the ages 18-35, a small percentage of the community but a large percentage of the people losing their lives.”

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact either Detective Travis Law at travis.law@police.portlandoregon.gov or 503-823-0395; or Detective Ryan Foote at ryan.foote@police.portlandoregon.gov or 503-823-0781. Reference case number 23-88186.
