PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Golden Arches are falling.
Demolition of one of the oldest McDonald’s in the country is underway. The iconic classic design with the Golden Arches framing the restaurant has been a fixture at SE 91st and Powell since 1962. It’s being torn down to make way for a new McDonald’s with self-serve kiosks.
In January, owner James Dotson told KOIIN 6 News the new McDonald’s will “deliver a redesigned, elevated guest experience with new levels of choice, engagement and service.”
He has been giving away tiles from the original restaurant as mementoes.
This location was one of only 3 original Golden Arches-design building still standing.
