PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Police confirm they have seized just over a kilo of powdered cocaine.
Kevin Bristow is charged with unlawful manufacture of cocaine, unlawful delivery of cocaine and unlawful possession of cocaine.
According to police, he was arrested on Wednesday when officers saw him roll through a stop sign. When officers approached Bristow, they noticed that he had a large bulge in his sweatshirt and that he appeared very nervous.
A Portland Police Bureau drug K-9 dog was brought in to check Bristow’s vehicle. The K-9 alerted officers to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, according to court documents.
“As Bristow stepped out (of the vehicle), a large bag of powder cocaine was visible in his pocket,” deputy district attorney Parakram Singh wrote.
Bristow admitted that he was on his way to a drug sale and that getting caught was “inevitable with time,” according to Singh’s affidavit.
Bristow told officers that there were more drugs inside his mother’s residence, where he stays. Officer went to the home and conducted a search. Records show, inside, they found $9,000 in cash, about 1,694 grams of powdered cocaine, additive chemical compounds used to cut clean cocaine, digital scales covered in cocaine, and large quantities of packaging material.
According to Bristow’s interview with police, he uses “additive materials” to increase the quantity of cocaine before packing it up for sale, records show. The $9,000 in cash officers found came exclusively from the sale of cocaine, records show.
Bristow is due in court next month.
