PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A former Tigard High School teacher-coach will spend the next 2 years in prison after admitting to sexually abusing students.

Marcus Dale Jolley pleaded guilty to 3 counts on Thursday related to issues dating back to 2005.

The investigation into Jolley began in the summer of 2017, Tigard police said, when a victim came forward and told school staff Jolley touched her inappropriately. She came forward when Jolley, who had been named an associate principal at Sherwood Middle School in July 2016, was thinking of returning to Tigard High.

The first instance of the inappropriate sexual contact with a high school student happened in 2005 and continued throughout the year. The second victim was abused in 2006, and neither of those incidents were reported to authorities or the Oregon Department of Human Services.

At Tigard High, Jolley taught language arts and reading as well as an instructional coordinator, a coach, an assistant football coach and a JV softball coach.

Jolley must register as a sex offender and have no contact with his victims. Once released, he’ll be under supervision for 5 years.
