PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland Fire & Rescue attacked a “tenacious” 2-alarm roof fire at Renner’s Grill in Multnomah Village.

The fire shut down Multnomah Village for over 2 hours. Portland Fire said parked cars were stuck in the area during that time.

Renner’s posted on its Facebook saying it’ll be closed until further notice. They said on Thursday that the it was not a total loss and that they will need a new roof and some kitchen stuff.

Multnomah Village was busy on Wednesday night. Add in the tight streets and it made a difficult arrival for Portland Fire trucks.

“Multnomah is pretty cramped, even for a regular car,” Jones said.

But once fire crews arrived, they quickly went to work, limiting the fire to Renner’s roof. The fire started in the bar and grill’s kitchen at 6:51 p.m., Portland Fire said. Investigators are still determining the cause.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue also assisted with the fire.

There are no injuries, Jones said, though she added, “it could’ve been very bad.”
