SCIO, Ore. (KOIN) — A 57-year-old man died Friday night in a crash on Stayton Scio Road near Sander Road.
Linn County Deputies say Michael Robinson was driving south when he missed a corner, left the road and went down a steep ditch. The Jeep Cherokee flipped end over end and hit a pine tree, shearing it off six feet above the ground.
Officials say Robinson was thrown from the Jeep but the vehicle continued to tumble, eventually hitting a house. The Jeep landed on its top, causing minor damage to the exterior of the house. No one inside was hurt.
Robinson’s body was found about 80 feet away from the Jeep. Deputies say he wasn’t wearing his seat belt. They are still trying to determine if alcohol was involved.
