PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An investigation into 23-year-old Bend resident Kaylee Sawyer’s homicide and a subsequent crime spree in Northern California revealed a complicated list of events. This timeline was put together by KOIN 6 News based on police reports, search warrant affidavits and statements made by police and individuals associated with the investigation.

July 22, 2016 

Kaylee Sawyer sent her biological father a text message saying she had been busy “trying to figure things out” and she was “in a bit of a hole.”July 23, 2016

10:30-11:00 p.m. – Kaylee Sawyer seen at a downtown Bend, Ore. bar dancing.July 24, 2016

12:04 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer calls her boyfriend asking for a ride.

12:06 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer texts friend to apologize about her interactions with another male while out at the bar.

12:14 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer and her boyfriend arrive at apartment complex and start to argue.

12:24 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer’s boyfriend goes to check on her after she remained in his vehicle post fight. She was no longer in the vehicle.

12:56 a.m. – A friend attempts to call Kaylee Sawyer but is unable to reach her.

1:00 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer tells her boyfriend “Good bye,” turns her cellphone off.

1:00 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer last seen in Bend, Ore.

9:00 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer’s boyfriend attempts to call her; there was no answer.

4:20 p.m. – Kaylee Sawyer’s cellphone “pings” its location in north Madras.

6:20 p.m. – Kaylee Sawyer’s cellphone is used in Madras

7:14 p.m. – Kaylee Sawyer’s mother reports her daughter missing to Bend Police.

7:30 p.m. – Kaylee Sawyer entered into law enforcement databases as “endangered missing person.”

9:46 p.m. – Kaylee Sawyer’s cellphone “pings” its location to a cell tower in Bend.

Unknown time – Edwin Lara returns home and is observed by his wife, Isabel Ponce-Lara as “acting out of the ordinary.”July 25, 2016

4:14 a.m. – A “ping” to Kaylee Sawyer’s phone returned “no updated information.”

9:00 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer scheduled to work at a dental clinic.

10:30 a.m. – Kaylee Sawyer’s boyfriend arrives at a friend’s home looking for Kaylee.

11:30 a.m. – Edwin Lara leaves his Redmond residence and flees.

11:48 a.m. – Edwin Lara calls a family member using his personal cellphone.

11:52 a.m. – Isabel Ponce-Lara goes to the Redmond Police Department.

12:22 p.m. – Police attempt to “ping” the location of Edwin Lara’s phone.

5:11 p.m. – Edwin Lara’s vehicle is located in Redmond, Ore.

5:21 p.m. – Police present search warrant requests to Deschutes County judge.

6:30 p.m. – Police locate a security uniform covered in blood inside Edwin Lara’s vehicle.

7:14 p.m. – Police locate a purse, driver’s license and passport belonging to Kaylee Sawyer during the execution of a search warrant at Edwin Lara’s residence.

7:35 p.m. – Police search the residence of Edwin Lara’s family on SW Cascade Mountain Lane.

8:45 p.m. – Aundreah Maes kidnapped at gunpoint, according to family, by Edwin Lara in Salem, Ore.July 26, 2016

5:00 a.m. – Yreka Police (California) notified of a shooting at a motel.

5:05 a.m. – Yreka Police notified of a carjacking, kidnapping.

5:41 a.m. – Three victims inside the vehicle during carjacking found on I-5.

6:18 a.m. – Yreka Police notified of a cellphone “pinging” its location on I-5, north of Redding, California.

7:01 a.m. – Edwin Lara taken into custody with 19-year-old Aundreah Maes.

4:25 p.m. – Edwin Lara formally charged with Kaylee Sawyer’s murder.

5:30 p.m. – Yreka Police confirm Aundreah Maes not considered a suspect, released from jail. In a statement police describe Aundreah Maes as a victim of Edwin Lara.

11 p.m. – Aundreah Maes’ family arrives to pick her up from jail.
