PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A multi-state scamming spree ended in Tigard with the arrest of 2 women from New York, officials said.

Florentina Coman and Baronita Anisoara Zagor were taken into custody Wednesday on multiple felony charges.

The pair were caught trying to steal cash from a customer service employee at Winco Foods in Tigard using “quick-change” methods, according to Tigard police.

Investigators said 27-year-old Coman and 29-year-old Zagor were both seen in California and Nevada days before their arrest.

They were also recorded on surveillance video on Tuesday carrying out their scam at Winco Foods in Eugene and Salem, officials said.

Authorities think Coman and Zagor are part of a nationwide network of “transient jewelry thieves” who try to steal from retailers.

Tigard police said the women will likely be connected to multiple thefts around Oregon and other nearby states.

Coman and Zagor were booked at the Washington County Jail on felony charges of theft, identity theft and false information to a police officer.
