GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN 6) – Police have arrested a woman accused of killing a local woman in a hit-and-run incident Saturday night, officials said.

Miranda Ashley Calvin, 19, was arrested Sunday at 3:45 p.m. in the hit-and-run death of 49-year-old Jerrie Ann Horning from Gresham, Gresham Police Department said. Officers were able to identify and locate Calvin after receiving tips from the public.

Horning was hit around 8:39 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Powell Boulevard. Officials said she was in an unmarked crosswalk near SW Junction Place when she was hit by a white, 2009 Mercedes Benz S-class, which was found a short time later.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gresham Police spokesperson Lt. Claudio Grandjean said a person monitoring the police scanner discovered the car and called police. That person’s name has not been released.

Calvin has been booked in Multnomah County Detention Center for first and second degree manslaughter, felony hit-and-run and reckless driving. She will have an arraignment hearing this week.

The roads around the crash scene have since re-opened, police confirmed.
