PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man died in an alleged homicide on Wednesday at a Clackamas County workplace, deputies said.
Around 11 a.m., deputies responded to a reported disturbance in the 1500 block of SE For Mor Ct. in unincorporated Clackamas County.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived on the scene and found a man seriously injured. Paramedics tried to save the man’s life, CCSO said, but he died.
Authorities later identified the victim as 60-year-old John Barnett of Vancouver.
Officials say they found the suspect a short distance away from the scene of the crime, but the person was also seriously injured and had to be airlifted to the a hospital in a Life Flight.
That suspect was identified as 27-year-old Cesar Farfan-Martinez by Friday evening. Police say he was transported to the Clackamas County Jail after he was released from the hospital.
He now faces a second-degree murder charge.
CCSO did not specify which workplace the man was killed in, how he died or how the suspect was hurt. A woman who works in the area, however, told a KOIN 6 News crew it happened at a business down the road from her.
“I just heard a lot of sirens, when I came to the front desk I noticed they were going down For Mor,” said Kelly, who did not provide her last name. “It’s alarming when it’s so close and you got someone running around and you don’t know what going on. So, I just chose to lock down the office.”
CCSO is conducting the investigation and is seeking additional information in this case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 503-723-4949 or by using the online email form. Please reference CCSO Case # 22-010099.
