PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Tuesday and Wednesday will be the warmest days we’ve seen since summer started.
Of course, this is when some kids are getting back to school and the routine around the house is going to be a bit different than during the summer.
The first concern for families will be the heat. We will have some dangerous temperatures to begin the school year and this could lead to problems for afternoon sports or just sitting in the car.
The forecast is calling for the upper 90s on Tuesday and likely Wednesday.

Just about each and every day this week will be above average, too.
High pressure aloft will divert the action to the north of us and with that the cooler weather. A thermal trough will build under this high pressure and it will lead to warming temperatures at the surface. A heat advisory will be in place from Tuesday morning until late Wednesday evening.
A reminder: this will be a stretch of time that we need to double-check the car and make sure pets and children are not sitting in the car.
Remember, stay cool, hydrated and create some time to take breaks. The last time we had heat in the upper 90s was early June before summer officially started!
These 90 degree days will push us to near normal for the year in the range of 12 to 13 for the year.
