PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The deaths of 7 people are now being looked at as heat-related, although the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office said that, as of Saturday, “none of the deaths can be confirmed as heat-related.”
The 7 deaths — 3 in Multnomah County, 2 in Marion County and one each in Clackamas and Umatilla counties — all happened between July 25-29, officials said.
“The final determination of the cause of death may not be known for several months after the death,” authorities said in a statement.
Clackamas County death
Clackamas County announced Saturday it is investigating the death of an elderly man that officials suspect could be related to the ongoing extreme heatwave.
County officials said the man died in his home where he did not have a working air conditioner. He was not immediately identified nor was his age provided.
