PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Mt. Hood Meadows may not be opening its slopes for another month, but that didn’t stop the snow from falling.
Footage from Sunday shows a snowstorm hitting the top of the resort’s blue chairlift. Then, the base area received 4-6 inches of snow overnight Monday.
While the fresh powder may have gotten skiers and snowboarders ready to hit the slopes, it’s not enough to open the resort just yet.
“This won’t get us open, but this will make us excited about the upcoming season,” Dave Tragethon, the vice president of sales and marketing at Meadows, said.
The estimated opening day is slated for Nov. 24, however, that day can be earlier or later depending on the weather and snowfall. The 2017-18 season didn’t start until Dec. 2.

It’s not nearly cold enough for the Portland metro area to get any snow, but the city will continue to see spotty showers through Monday afternoon before drying up in the evening.
