PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A massive thunderstorm rapidly grew over the Portland metro area late Monday afternoon.

That storm not only produced small hail and lightning but also prompted a Flood Advisory for parts of Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties Monday evening.

The KOIN 6 Weather Team was tracking this rapidly developing thunderstorm throughout the evening hours.

“Nearly 8-10 lightning strikes have been observed with this storm over Portland today,” said KOIN 6 Chief Meteorologist Natasha Stenbock.

The storm threat will continue to diminish as daytime heating slows. Drier skies are expected to return to the region by Tuesday morning. That’s when temperatures will warm to record-breaking conditions this weekend.
