PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The suspect in a late Saturday night shooting was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a Clackamas County deputy, authorities said.
The incident began around 11:45 p.m. when one person was shot in the 16000 block of SE 82nd Drive. The wounded person pointed out the suspect’s car and deputies began a pursuit
When the pursuit ended near SE 172nd and Scouters Mountain Road in Happy Valley, authorities said the suspect fired at a deputy. The deputy returned fire, shooting the suspect.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was rushed by ambulance to an area hospital and later died.
No deputies were injured. The deputy who fired the shot is on administrative leave.
The person who was initially wounded is expected to recover.
